Many good people use to think that Mr. Chamberlain, speaking at the Heston aerodrome and referring to his
Munich accomplishments, declared "peace in our time". Actually, he used a slightly different, less prayer-book expression a bit later on the same day, speaking outside Downing Street, 10. Here's the exact quote:
My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime
Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe
it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
